Talk: The Impossible Future. Cartoons against Capitalism
Speakers: Paula Moura, Toni Balseiro, Martín Haas
When we imagine our future, we usually think of images very similar to those in science fiction films and series, in which there is ecological devastation, discarded multitudes, technological over-surveillance or some kind of apocalyptic situation. And if we cannot imagine a different future, that is the future we are going to make, as we are in fact making it. We live in a suicidal system, and they say that we cannot change it because there is no alternative. But luckily there are many alternatives, even if they are not in the mass media.
Not only are there alternatives, but there is a whole movement, or rather many movements that are building the foundations of a world that fuses the best of the old with the best of the new. In ‘El Futuro Imposible’ we set out to tell these ideas and solutions in an entertaining way, and for that we turned to animation.
