Workshop: Storytelling

Paula Boffo (@sukermercado) works as an animator and comic artist. Born in 1994 in Buenos Aires, she studied animation at the Instituto de Cine de Avellaneda and specializes in pre-production and art direction. She has participated in various national and international comic spaces (Fierro, Sextories, Vamos Las Pibas, Telecomics, Línea Peluda). She is the author of the award-winning comics “La sombra del Altiplano” and “Si mojás me enciendo”. She won international mentorship competitions in direction at Annecy, Ventana Sur, and Women in Animation. She directed the short video “Santa sombra” (2022 – INCAA). In 2022, she published the graphic novels “Santa sombra” as a sole creator and “El viaje real” with Carolina Unrein as the writer. She is currently writing her next graphic novel and co-directing a short film scripted by herself.

Aesthetically obsessed with esotericism, paganism, and horror, she has a primary interest in narratives with political, ecological, and transfeminist themes, viewing animation and comics as powerful collective tools for change and awareness.
