BITBANG BECOMES THE FIRST ARGENTINE OSCARS® QUALIFYING FESTIVAL
Bitbang was announced as an ACADEMY AWARD® Qualifying Festival on October 1, 2024. This means that the winners of the Bitbang Official Competition, in the categories of Best International Short Film and Best Latin American Short Film, will be automatically eligible to enter the OSCARS® Short Film competition.
Bárbara Cerro, the festival’s Artistic Director, said: “Being a qualifying festival for the OSCARS® is a huge recognition not only for the commitment of our team and the artistic vision we have cultivated at BITBANG over the past decade, but also for Latin American animation. This achievement highlights the growth, creativity, and impact that our region has on the industry worldwide. Being able to provide a platform that promotes local and international talent every year and giving a short film the chance to compete for an OSCAR® is a source of immense pride. I am convinced that this step will give more visibility and further strengthen animation in Argentina and throughout Latin America, opening doors and opportunities for our stories and our creators. We are very happy with this achievement and for what is to come!”
