Bitbang is an International Animation Festival based in Buenos Aires, running since 2015. In 2026, it will celebrate its 12th edition.

It will be five days filled with animation in the form of short films, feature films, premieres, spotlights, retrospectives, workshops, master classes, a graphic arts fair, games, collaborative activities, networking, installations, parties, and thousands of opportunities to meet your favorite artists and join this vibrant, energetic community of collective creation.

Bitbang is a platform that disseminates and promotes creative and experimental projects for young and old audiences. Above all, it is a meeting point: a space where art enthusiasts in general, emerging and established artists come together, generating community, exchange, and opportunities.

A shared space for personal, collective, and professional growth, where each individual journey intertwines with that of others.

Bitbang Academy, the festival’s training program, is born.

BITBANG BECOMES THE FIRST ARGENTINE FILM FESTIVAL TO QUALIFY FOR THE OSCARS®

Bitbang was announced as an ACADEMY AWARD® Qualifying Festival on October 1, 2024. This means that the winners of Bitbang’s Official Competition in the categories of Best International Short Film and Best Latin American Short Film will automatically be eligible to enter the Short Film Competition at the OSCARS®.

Bárbara Cerro, Artistic Director of the festival, expressed: “Being an Oscar® qualifying festival is a tremendous recognition not only for the commitment of our team and the artistic vision we have cultivated at BITBANG over the last decade, but also for Latin American animation. This achievement highlights the growth, creativity, and impact that our region has on the industry worldwide. Being able to provide a platform that promotes local and international talent each year and gives a short film the opportunity to compete for an Oscar® is an immense source of pride. I am convinced that this step will give greater visibility and further strengthen animation in Argentina and throughout Latin America, opening doors and opportunities for our stories and our creators. We are very happy with this achievement and for what is to come!”
