WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
This workshop introduces us to the direction of animated and mixed media music videos. Over four theoretical and practical sessions, we will explore different styles and creative processes, and participants will be guided through the development of a personal proposal.
We will review key references, analyze the role of direction and its connection to music, and work hands-on with the creation of a technical script and storyboard. The ultimate goal is for each participant to take home a folder with a developed proposal for an animated or mixed media music video.

WHO IS IT FOR?
People with an interest in animation, music videos, or audiovisual narrative, who want to delve into directing animated music videos, with or without prior experience. It’s recommended to have a musical idea in mind or the desire to work on a proposal from scratch.
Participants are welcome from anywhere in the world.

REQUIREMENTS
No technical knowledge is required. Having a musical idea in mind or the desire to develop a proposal from scratch is recommended.

JULIA CONDE
Julita is a director from Buenos Aires specializing in mixed media. She explores combining different techniques according to the needs of each project.
She provided the audiovisual and creative direction for Emilia Mernes‘s album “.MP3” which was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. She subsequently directed the shows for her international tour, which sold out stadiums. She directed music videos for various urban artists such as Trueno, Aitana, Blessd, Khea, among others. She directed several short films for producer Bizarrap and was nominated for Premios Gardel for her music video “Toy en el Mic.” Some of her videos, such as “Espinas” (her stop-motion short film) and “My Bag” (the music video for Lit Killah’s album Mawz), have toured the world at festivals and garnered multiple awards.
She has worked with clients such as Disney, Viacom, and El Corte Inglés. She won an award from the Madrid Creative Club for her work in commercials. She has also been invited as a jury member and speaker at various international events such as BITBANG, UNSIN MIAMI, BAMV Fest, and SMOF. She has also presented masterclasses at prestigious educational centers such as the National University of La Plata and the University of Cinema.

Lesson 1
What does a music video director do? Examples of different approaches and styles. The relationship between image and music. Developing your own ideas: vision, narrative, and personal style. Creative processes. Making of Julia Conde’s work.
Practice: Starting the individual project: synopsis and aesthetic proposal.
Lesson 2
Tools for developing and organizing an audiovisual idea. Different techniques depending on the needs of each project.
Basics of scriptwriting and storyboarding. Aesthetic proposal and its conceptualization. Use of moodboards. How to put together a project with available resources. Production, planning, and schedule.
Practice: Progress feedback. Moodboard. Technical script.
Lesson 3
Storyboard as a narrative tool. Shot types and visual composition. Audiovisual language. Practical tools for creating a technical and visual script. Mixed Media.
Practice: Feedback on progress. Work on the personal project: from script to storyboard.
Final folder organization: synopsis, aesthetic proposal, mood board, technical script, and storyboard.
Lesson 4
Mockup, animatics. Process changes not included in the storyboard.
Editing and composition. Rhythm.
Practice: General review of projects. Share progress and processes. Space for exchanges, questions, reflections, and next steps.
