Alberto Vázquez (A Coruña, 1980)

Animation director, illustrator, and comic artist. His books have been published in countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Brazil, South Korea, and Turkey, and his illustrations have appeared in print media worldwide.

His work has won five Goya Awards, including Best Animated Short Film in 2012 for *Birdboy*, and—in 2017—Best Animated Feature Film for *Psiconautas* and Best Animated Short Film for *Decorado*. He won further Goya Awards in 2022 for the feature film *Unicorn Wars* and in 2025 for the feature film *Decorado*.

He has received over 100 international awards, and his works have been screened at prestigious festivals around the globe, such as Cannes, San Sebastián, the EFA Awards, Toronto, Annecy, Clermont-Ferrand, and Animafest Zagreb.

He currently also directs the international animation festival Imaxinaria.
