Frederic Siegel is a Swiss animation director, illustrator, visual artist and educator, working both in Zurich and Bern.

He studied animation at the Lucerne School of Art & Design and graduated in 2015 with the short film Ruben Leaves, which was screened at international film festivals like Annecy, Dok Leipzig and Encounters Bristol. It won several awards, including the Swiss Film Award for the best graduation film in 2016.

In 2017 he co-founded the Zurich-based animation collective Team Tumult and is collaborating with his colleagues on personal projects and commissioned work for clients all over the world ever since. Among others, they collaboratively produced the short films The Lonely Orbit, which won the Award for Best Animated Short at the OSCAR-qualifying SITGES Fantastic Film Festival, and TV or The Disturbance on Forest Hill Road, which premiered at SXSW Film & TV Festival in 2025.

In his personal work, Frederic Siegel regularly explores the turbulent inner worlds of ordinary characters, who are influenced by technology, societal pressure and other mental challenges. He is conveying his fluid sense of reality by utilizing digital hand-drawn animation and limited but vivid color palettes.
